The wildest twist to date in the ongoing saga of the payroll tax cut extension battle came today when Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell broke with House Speaker John Boehner and urged passage of the two month extension. McConnell has apparently had enough of a fight that may hurt his chances of becoming Senate Majority Leader next year. Remember, McConnell got DOZENS in his caucus to back the 2 month extension, and after the vote he was high-fiving his pals in the halls of the Captiol.
Now the division in the house has led to McConnell having to cut off his old friend, the Tan Man. Boehner ended up toeing the tea party line, and McConnell had no other choice. Reminds us of when a certain member of a certain family decided to betray his brother and team up with Johnny Ola.
