Welcome to December!  The top Republican in Congress agreed with President Barack Obama today that extending the payroll tax cut would help the economy.Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner said, however, that any extension must be paid for with spending cuts. Obama and the Democrats favor instead paying for it with a tax hike on the wealthy.Oh, remember that "random person" Boehner dismissed last month for his lack of influence over congressional Republicans?

Grover Norquist, the Americans for Tax Reform president, is on Capitol Hill today to speak to GOP lawmakers on messaging skills, specifically about tax policy.“It’s not often I’m asked about some random person in America,” Boehner said Nov. 3 when asked about Norquist's influence. “Our focus is about creating jobs, not talking about somebody’s personality.”
