Republican Oklahoma State Senator Ralph Shortey is on a mission to stop a HUGE problem in his state: cannibalism.
Last week, the senator introduced legislation that would prohibit the "the manufacture or sale of food or products which use aborted human fetuses."
After doing his research, Shortey said that companies have used stem cells in the development of food. But there’s a problem. Shortey can’t give any specific examples of stem cells being used in food. He told NPR “I don’t know if it is happening in Oklahoma, it may be, it may not be. What I am saying is that if it does happen then we are not going to allow it to manufacture here,"
Luckily for the senator there is Gawker! They did their own research and found that some companies MIGHT be using aborted human features in their food (not really).
