Far removed from the national headlines, another man is hoping to take down vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan - Rob Zerban. In Wisconsin, Zerban is the Democratic hopeful attempting to beat incumbent Ryan as Representative for the state’s 1st District.
Zerban, a progressive Democrat, is pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, and opposes Ryan’s efforts to privatize Social Security. When it comes to the money race, Zerban is actually doing better than you might expect against such a high-profile candidate. The Federal Election Commission confirms that through July 25, Zerban had raised $1.2 million, more than any other Wisconsin congressional challenger. Ryan’s last challenger, in 2010, raised only about $12,000.
