68 years after the end of WWII, the Monuments Men, an unlikely groups of men and women from 13 countries who were tasked with saving Europe's cultural history, can final receive one of the nation's highest civilian honors.
These museum directors, curators, art scholars and architects enlisted in the army and worked to protect monuments and other cultural treasures from the Nazi destruction of World War II. They traveled behind enemy lines to track, locate and recover masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their rightful owners.
As the research continues into who the Monuments Men were and locating the lost art of World War II they are asking for our help.
