Major League Baseball's most storied rivalry will put its animosity on hold Monday as the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees honor the victims of the Newtown, Conn. shooting on Opening Day.
Before the first pitch, the Yankee Stadium scoreboard will feature each victim's name as the stadium observes a moment of silence. Newtown police and firefighters will join the honor guard.
All on-field personnel will don a Newtown ribbon patch on their jerseys, which features 26 stars—one for each victim. MLB commissioner Bud Selig has asked that all players do the same during the first three days of the regular season.
The game starts at 1:05 p.m. EST.
