As the 2014 midterm elections near, Democrats should be worried.
A new Washington Post/ABC News poll reveals President Obama’s approval has hit a new low and a majority of voters say they would prefer a Republican controlled Congress to check the president’s agenda.
According to the poll, Obama’s job approval has fallen to 41%, the lowest of his presidency. And although a majority of Americans believe the country is heading in the right direction, the poll reveals voters do not approve of the way Obama is handling the important issues facing our nation. Just 42% of those polled approve his handling of the economy, 34% approve of his handling of situation in Russia and Ukraine, and 37% approve of his handling of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
While Obama continues to struggle, Democrats are polling better than Republicans in a number of key areas: voters trust Democrats over Republicans to better handle the economy, health care, and the problems facing the United States.
