Over the course of the last few weeks first lady Michelle Obama has been a big advocate for voters to cast their ballots early, and now she has decided to lead by example.
The first lady tweeted yesterday “Hey, @BarackObama
, I just dropped my absentee ballot in the mail – I couldn’t wait for Election Day! Love you! –mo."
Also, the campaign released this image via Flickr
of her proudly holding up her envelope ready to be mailed to the Illinois ballet office. During a rally yesterday she told voters
she “couldn’t wait for election day” and that is why she had to get out there to vote. President Obama has also said he cast his vote early in person on October 25.
The president’s re-election campaign has said this is the first time a candidate and his spouse will not vote in person on Election Day
, so are the Obamas starting a new trend that we could see in years to come?
But this is a common misconception. History shows Democrats are typically the ones who enter polls early or send in their absentee ballots. So while the early voting will help the Democrats it may not give President Obama the push he needs to win the Oval office.
