Senators really are just like us.
During an almost four-hour Senate Foreign Relations hearing on military action in Syria, Senator John McCain was caught playing poker on his iPhone. A Washington Post photographer snapped a picture, which quickly made its way through social media circles.
McCain responded shortly after the close of the hearing on Twitter:
Scandal! Caught playing iPhone game at 3+ hour Senate hearing - worst of all I lost!— John McCain (@SenJohnMcCain) September 3, 2013
McCain, who has signaled that he would support military action, is also looking for President Obama to present a plan "rather than we're just going to launch some cruise missiles and that's it." Still, he warned that a vote against military action in Syria would be "catastrophic" to the credibility of the United States long after President Obama leaves office.
The Senate Foreign Relations hearing held Tuesday will be followed by a second, classified hearing on Syria on Wednesday.
