With President Obama taking the stage to accept the Democratic nomination this evening we have entered the bottom of the 6th inning in our baseball analogy. According to the polls the game is tight and could go either way.

Last night Former President Bill Clinton took the stage. Over the years President Clinton has spoken 7 times at Democratic National Conventions and when you put all of his speeches together, they total approximately 5 hours. So, it should be no surprise that what was supposed to be a 23 minutes speech turned into a 48 minute speech that captured the audience’s attention and made it clear Clinton was the right choice as set up man for tonight’s closing act: President Obama’s acceptance speech.

Bill Clinton’s speech last was one for the books. Last night someone tweeted that Bill Clinton’s speech may have broken twitter due to all the tweets coming out of his speech. Some of the quotes that resonate the next day are:

  • “No President, not me or any of my predecessors, could have repaired all the damage in just four years. But conditions are improving and if you’ll renew the President’s contract you will feel it.”
  • “ We simply cannot afford to turn the reins of government over to someone who will double down on trickle-down.”
  • “We believe we’re all in this together is far better philosophy than you’re on your own.”
  • “I want to nominate a man who is cool on the outside but who burns for America on the inside”

To help us properly analyze Bill Clinton’s speech last night and preview tonight’s events we will be talking to Willie Geist live in Charlotte and Luke Russert in Washington. Be sure to tune in at 3pm for the full conversation.
