As 2014 comes to a close, social networks and tech giants are taking a look back at the biggest moments of the year.
The overall “Golden Tweet” honor goes to @TheEllenShow photo from the Oscars telecast back in March. This tweet hit over three million re-tweets marking it the most re-tweeted tweet of the year.
“People send more than 500 million Tweets per day,” Twitter analytics states. From #BringBackOurGirls to #Ebola to #TanSuit people took to Twitter to express their thoughts because “if it happened in the world, it happened on Twitter.” This year 4.5 million Tweets globally used the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls. First Lady Michelle Obama sent out a tweet in early May that was her most RT’d tweet, with over 56,000 retweets.
