Welcome to a new occupation

Taking a page from activists around the world and throughout modern history, Occupy Cleveland is taking a stand today and tomorrow against the eviction of a mother and her two small kids.

Occupy Cleveland plans to spend the day marching to foreclosed homes in the neighborhood and knocking on doors to build support. Tonight, the call is out to set up camp at the house. On Tuesday, the sheriff comes. From Occupy Cleveland's Facebook page:

Tuesday--- 9-1130 rally (with potential march)1130- Sheriff arrives, sees that Clevelanders (the 99 percent) have taken a stand and will take no more foreclosures, which destroy communities, and backs down.

Who knows whether the occupation will be able to stop the eviction, tomorrow or for the longer term. What's clear is that the occupation is changing, in Cleveland and around the world, in a way that shows it is alive.

Bonus: Report from the occupation of an empty building in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
