Today's installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* In New Hampshire, a new WBUR poll shows Donald Trump still leading the race for the Republican presidential nomination with 22%, though Ben Carson is hot on his heels with 18%. Carly Fiorina is third in the poll with 11%, while Jeb Bush and John Kasich are tied for fourth with 9% each.
* Speaking of New Hampshire, a Monmouth poll released yesterday shows Bernie Sanders leading Hillary Clinton in the Democratic race, 43% to 36%. Vice President Biden is third with 13%.
* The news for Clinton was better in Florida, where PPP shows her with a big lead over Sanders, 55% to 18%. Biden is third in the Sunshine State with 17%.
* Jeb Bush’s super PAC released a new video recently, using stock images of people from England and Asia, instead of the United States. This is one of those accidental, small-ball stories that Bush's rivals will probably put to use.
* Speaking of the former governor, Bush's super PAC has a sizable financial advantage over the other candidates, and now it's putting that advantage to use -- Right to Rise USA just booked nearly $6 million in ad time in early nominating states, with several million more on the way.
* Politico published a 1,000-word essay yesterday, effectively urging Mitt Romney to run for president. There's no reason to believe that's going to happen.
* Rick Perry can think of all kinds of reasons why his second presidential campaign fared so poorly, but his explanation does not acknowledge his own shortcomings as a candidate.
* It appears that some of the very generous donors to Perry's super PAC expect their unspent contributions to be refunded. The super PAC's leaders are reportedly "still discussing options with the group’s lawyers."
* And Chris Christie this week urged Fox News' Megyn Kelly to cover Trump less and cover him more. “Your ratings will go through the roof. Skyrocketing!” Christie said, doing an apparent Trump impression. “You want ratings? Christie is ratings. Ratings, Megyn. Total ratings. Big! Very big!”
