On Monday, President Obama compared the painful decisions to be made in the debt nogiation process to "eating our peas."
The USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council took a somewhat literal reading of the president's remark, agreeing with him and recommending eating more lentils as well.
House Speaker Boehner returned the matter to the metaphorical with his accusation that dealing with the White House has been like dealing with Jell-O.
And all of this culminated yesterday with White House Press Secretary Jay Carney proposing a sort of compromise recipe:
I love Jell-O personally. If you mix peas in it...
Despite the recorded reaction from an anonymous White House Press Corps member, "That's nasty," is peas 'n' Jell-O really such an outlandish idea? Not according to this item from the everything-old-is-weird file via a site called Dapperhouse:
The recipe transcribed after the jump...
