Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:

* Newt Gingrich is apparently still a presidential candidate, though he acknowledged yesterday, "I think we need to take a deep look at what we are doing."

* There's no doubt that Mitt Romney will do very well in each of today's Republican primaries, but the margins of victory may tell us something about whether, and to what extent, GOP voters are rallying behind him.

* For months, the Obama campaign has said it considers Arizona a competitive state in 2012, and a new statewide poll suggests the president's team may be right: Romney leads Obama in the state, but by only two points, 42% to 40%.

* Speaking of polls, last week a survey in New Hampshire found Romney with a narrow lead in the state, but a new WMUR/Granite State Poll shows Obama leading the Republican, 51% to 42%.

* There's a Republican U.S. Senate primary in Pennsylvania today, but as one Democratic media consultant put it, "There are a bunch of fools running, literally. These are not even C-team people. It's the D team. They're silly people."

* In Missouri, Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Sarah Steelman apparently has never heard of the Violence Against Women Act. Recently, she didn't know the current value of the minimum wage.

* Will Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) be on Romney's VP short list? Jon Ralston makes the case.

* And in Wisconsin, the Democratic Governors Association is sending $500,000 to the Greater Wisconsin Political Fund for a new statewide TV ad targeting Gov. Scott Walker (R). The governor's recall election is scheduled for June 5, and most polls show Walker in the lead.
