Troutdale, Oregon, home to latest U.S. school shooting

The situation has reportedly been "contained," but at least two are dead, including the alleged shooter.

The details are still coming in, and it's not uncommon for some preliminary information to be mistaken, but the latest information available to msnbc and NBC News is that at least one student was shot and killed at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Oregon, this morning. The alleged gunman is also dead and others were injured.

The situation has been "contained," according to authorities who spoke during a press conference. Police are searching the evacuated students and inside each room of the building to ensure the scene is fully under control. Police couldn't confirm or deny reports of other victims, but nearby hospitals haven't received injured students or staff members, according to NBC News's correspondent Pete Williams. Police also cannot yet confirm details about the gunman or the weapon used in the incident.

This is the 74th school shooting in the United States since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.
