Diane McEachern sends these pics from Bethel, Alaska. The one below is of her. The one up top is Esther Green, a Yup'ik elder, on the Kuskokwim River. She writes that after the picture below got passed around online, her friend Esther asked about it.
"I told her why I went to Occupy the Tundra that day, and a week later she called me saying she had an idea... so to the frozen river we went. We are small-scale Occupiers!"
She adds that Esther is concerned about mining affecting the supply of fish she relies on, including salmon.
