Monday's Mini-Report, 1.25.21

Today's edition of quick hits.

Today's edition of quick hits:

* A new goal: "President Joe Biden said he expects anyone who wants a vaccine to be able to get one by the spring and he upped his vaccination goal for his first 100 days in office. Biden said Monday he now thinks the country can administer 1.5 million shots a day in the coming weeks and give 150 million vaccinations over the next 100 days, 'with the grace of god.'"

* DOJ: "A Justice Department watchdog has opened an investigation into whether any current or former officials tried improperly to wield the powers of the department to undo the results of the presidential election."

* Remember the emoluments clause cases? "The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday tossed out two lawsuits claiming that Donald Trump's business dealings as president violated the Constitution's ban on receiving financial benefits from states or foreign officials."

* A case worth watching: "Dominion Voting Systems, an election equipment manufacturer that became the target of wild conspiracies pushed by former President Donald Trump and his allies, sued Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani for defamation on Monday."

* Far from ideal timing in Rome: "Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is planning to resign Tuesday, in a move that extends the country's political chaos and risks complicating the coronavirus response."

* Something to look forward to: "President Joe Biden will move forward with a plan announced five years ago and stalled by the Trump administration to place abolitionist Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill."

* I'd almost forgotten about Conley: "President Joe Biden is bringing in his longtime doctor, Kevin O'Connor as the new physician to the president in the White House, filling a traditionally low-profile role that became the source of controversy under the Trump administration. O'Connor, who has served as Biden's doctor for more than a decade, will replace Dr. Sean Conley, a White House official said."

* He sure does have a problem holding onto attorneys: "The law firm that handled the tax affairs of Donald Trump and his company during his presidency said it would stop representing him and his business."

* The North Carolina Republican is off to quite a start, isn't he? Representative Madison Cawthorn has misled the public about training for the Paralympics, just as he misrepresented his education and business history.

* I'm glad this worked out the way it did: "Voice of America has reinstated its White House reporter, who was taken off the beat after attempting to question former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Patsy Widakuswara's reinstatement comes a day after President Biden asked for the resignation of Michael Pack, the CEO of the U.S. Agency for Global Media."

See you tomorrow.
