Today's installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
* In recent months, prominent Trump campaign staffers rejected the idea that the president would seek a delay in the election over and over and over and over again. Funny, they're saying far less this morning.
* Herman Cain, a Republican presidential candidate in 2012 and a relatively prominent Donald Trump supporter, has died from complications from COVID-19. He was 74.
* CNN reported yesterday that Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-S.C.) re-election campaign released a Facebook ad this month "featuring a digitally altered image" of Jaime Harrison, his Black rival, "with a darker skin tone." This comes on the heels of Sen. David Perdue (R) running an ad featuring a manipulated picture of his opponent -- Jon Ossoff (D), who is Jewish -- with an enlarged nose.
* The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump super PAC founded by disaffected Republican strategists, unveiled a new ad this week targeting Sen. Susan Collins (R), who's facing a tough re-election campaign in Maine. Just as notably, the ad is part of a $4 million ad buy launched by the Lincoln Project.
* Though Ohio was not expected to be a 2020 battleground state, Joe Biden's campaign this week expanded its ad campaign to include the Buckeye State.
* Less than a week after suggesting he'd accept the Republican Party's presidential nomination in North Carolina, Trump said yesterday that he and his team are "thinking about" an acceptance speech at the White House. As a matter of American history, that would be a first.
* And in Virginia, where Rep. Denver Riggleman (R) recently lost a primary fight despite having Trump's backing, the outgoing congressman said this week that he's eyeing a possible gubernatorial campaign in 2021. "The Virginia Republican Party is so broken," Riggleman added. "Maybe it is time for a third-party run."
