Today's edition of quick hits:
* Impeachment: "House Democrats are planning to vote on a measure calling on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment against President Donald Trump and on an article of impeachment in the next two days."
* I'm generally finding it difficult to think about anything other than this: "The FBI has sent a memo to law enforcement agencies across the country warning of possible armed protests at all 50 state Capitols starting Jan. 16, and also says an armed group has threatened to travel to Washington, D.C., the same day and stage an uprising if Congress removes President Donald Trump from office, according to a senior law enforcement official."
* Post-riot charges: "In the days since the riot, federal and local authorities have begun arresting people who they said were involved. More arrests are expected as investigators scrutinize photographs, videos and social media posts to identify the protesters.... On Friday, the Justice Department announced that it had charged 13 people. Dozens of others have been charged in Superior Court in Washington, D.C., with unlawful entry, curfew violations and firearms-related crimes."
* Facebook announced today "it is removing all content mentioning 'stop the steal,' a phrase popular among supporters of President Trump's claims about the election, as part of a raft of emergency measures to stem misinformation and incitements to violence on its platform in the lead up to President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration."
* Huh? "The Trump administration is trying to push through a last-minute rule that could force banks to offer loans to gun-makers and oil exploration companies or to finance high-cost payday lenders."
* One of today's more surprising stories: "Cumulus Media, a talk radio company with a roster of popular right-wing personalities including Dan Bongino, Mark Levin and Ben Shapiro, has warned its hosts to steer clear of misinformation about election fraud."
* 25th Amendment: "Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has been personally involved in discussions about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office, but is highly unlikely to pursue that extraordinary course of action, according to three people aware of the secretary's remarks."
* Interesting controversy brewing in Tennessee: "A swirl of FBI activity flooded the offices and homes of four Tennessee Republican House lawmakers on Friday morning and several legislative staff."
* Story out of West Virginia yesterday: "Delegate Derrick Evans, R-Wayne, today announced his resignation from the West Virginia House of Delegates, effective immediately."
* The kind of story that keeps me up at night: "Police departments across the country have suspended officers or referred them to internal reviews for attending the events on Jan. 6 in Washington that devolved into an assault on the U.S. Capitol."
* On a related note: "A growing number of House Democrats say they're concerned that tactical decisions by some Capitol Police officers worsened Wednesday's riots and have raised the possibility that the pro-Trump mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol might have had outside help."
* Interesting comparison: "Some Americans have traveled a path to radicalization that reminds current and former U.S. national security officials of the indoctrination of Islamist militants."
* Hmm: "President Donald Trump former personal lawyer Michael Cohen said in a tweet on Friday that he is cooperating with officials probing the president and his family."
* It's hard not to love the story about Kim literally cleaning up Congress: "Unlike many of his congressional colleagues, Rep. Andy Kim, D-N.J., was in his office in a separate federal building when President Donald Trump's supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday afternoon. So he didn't actually see the damage live until nearly midnight, after the House had voted down the last challenge to the presidential election result."
