Today's edition of quick hits.

Today's edition of quick hits:

* A tragic new milestone: "The United States set yet another pandemic record with more than 90,000 new Covid-19 cases reported in a single day, the latest NBC News tally showed Friday. The new benchmark of 90,456 cases was hit Thursday just hours after the U.S. logged its 9 millionth coronavirus case and shattered the previous daily record of 80,662 infections, set a day earlier."

* A brutal earthquake: "At least 14 people were killed and more than 400 injured when a strong 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and neighboring Greece on Friday."

* It's like deja vu all over again: "The group of Russian hackers accused of meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election earlier this year targeted the email accounts of Democratic state parties in California and Indiana, and influential think tanks in Washington and New York, according to people with knowledge of the matter."

* Michigan: "Federal and state authorities arrested two men in Michigan on Thursday who they said were members of a white supremacist group. The arrests come three weeks after more than a dozen men tied to a separate anti-government group were accused of plotting to kidnap the state's governor."

* Background on the Hunter Biden conspiracy deluge: "A 64-page document that was later disseminated by close associates of President Donald Trump appears to be the work of a fake 'intelligence firm.'"

* Another step backwards: "Trump administration officials on Thursday stripped Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves in most of the U.S., ending longstanding federal safeguards and putting states and tribes in charge of overseeing the predators."

* An unfortunate reversal: "Walmart on Friday reversed its decision to take guns and ammunition from store displays in response to concerns about 'isolated civil unrest.'"

* Quite a video: "The video shows Idaho Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin (R) sitting in the driver's seat of a pickup truck, a Bible in her hand, as she rails against the coronavirus restrictions carried out in the state she helps lead."

* Ya don't say: "White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah told reporters on Friday that President Trump's promise for the delivery of a COVID-19 vaccine ahead of Election Day was 'kind of an arbitrary deadline,' as it grows increasingly clear that a vaccine for the virus will not be made available by Tuesday."

* This case is just getting started: "Jeffrey Longstreth, the longtime aide to former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder, and lobbyist Juan Cespedes pleaded guilty Thursday to racketeering charges involving the House Bill 6 scandal."

* I continue to like this story: "The back-and-forth between Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh and the Vermont secretary of state continues to go, well, back and forth."

* Tom Toles' exceptional work will be missed, but I hope he enjoys his well-earned retirement.

Have a safe weekend.
