Maddow accepts 'Ice Bucket Challenge'

Fox News host Shep Smith challenged Rachel to dunk ice water over her head for charity. She accepts the challenge.

Last week, Fox News Channel host Shep Smith got doused with a bucket of ice-cold waterfor charity – but not before he challenged former MLB player David Dellucci, Detroit Tigers pitcher Joba Chamberlain and Rachel Maddow to do the same. And today, Rachel accepted his challenge!

Here’s how the Ice Bucket Challenge works: if the people Shep Smith challenged choose NOT to douse themselves with ice water, then they have to pay $250 to the charity of the Shep’s choice.

If they DO accept the challenge and get drenched with ice water, Shep donates $50 in their name to that charity.

Today, Rachel not only accepted Shep Smith’s challenge – with help from TRMS executive producer Bill Wolff – she then passed it on to IAVA founder and director Paul Rieckhoff, Northampton Massachusetts City Council President Bill Dwight, and former State Department Official Liz Cheney to do the same for her charity of choice: the Andi Leadership Institute for Young Women.

Rachel and Liz Cheney go way back (not really):
