'If you want to keep your limbs intact, let the Wookie win. And if you want to develop and deliver effective weapon systems, build droids instead of Death Stars.'

-Lt. Col. Dan Ward, USAFDon't Come to the Dark Side - Acquisition Lessons from a Galaxy Far, Far Away (pdf)

It's a brief, clever paper that uses the Death Star as a metaphor for Defense Department boondoggles. It's interesting that he ultimately arrives at R2-D2 as the anti-Death Star - that is to say, he's small and efficient and proficient and manages to not get blown up so much. I wonder how Lt. Col. Ward would have viewed R2-D2 if "Reconsidering Star Wars IV" had been part of his research.
