Galicia Malone was not going to let anything stop her from voting in her first presidential election. Not even the birth of her child. The 21-year-old Chicago-area woman voted early this morning just a few hours after going into labor, reported The Huffington Post.
Malone cast her ballot at 8:30 a.m. as her contractions were only five minutes apart, according to a local county clerk for her polling place.
Malone told CBS Chicago that the chance to be a part of this year’s presidential election made “a major difference in my life.”
Malone was not the only voter determined to have a voice in this election.
In North Carolina, 104-year-old J.C. Danner fought back from illness that after doctors told him he was near to death, determined to cast his ballot. His granddaughter sent a photo of him with his absentee ballot to PoliticsNation.
And in Hawaii, a World War II veteran voted just days before he passed away. Frank Tanabe, 93, filled out his absentee ballot with the help of family from his bed. This photo of him with his ballot quickly went viral after Tanabe’s grandson posted it online.
