SO just what went on behind closed doors?Lots and lots and lots of questions to ask about what is most likely our lead story Monday: the failure of the super committee.
There's been a lot of finger-pointing between our 2 parties about which side is responsible for the committee's failure. But without knowing what's been discussed since November 1st - is this closed discussion about our nation's debt really democratic??
If the group does concede defeat, as expected, will you accept failure?
The Democrats say the Republicans are to blame for the SuperFail thanks to one man. Not Obama. But a man named Grover. He's gotten over 270 members of Congress to sign a pledge to not raise taxes. Forget the question about who is this Grover and how did he get them all to sign his pledge -- but, more simply, has Grover Norquist gotten in the way of finding a solution to our debt crisis?
When they fail to come to an agreement, automatic spending cuts to cut the deficit will kick in. And we'll see a last-minute flurry of groups try and save their programs from expiring. But why should we have any faith that they can agree here??
And what's President Obama's role in all of this? How much blame can he take for the SuperFail in finding a solution?
