The number 300 represents symbolic significance in several disciplines: The Bible says the length of Noah’s Ark was 300 cubits. Among the Spartans, the particular guard of the king in times of war was composed of 300 men. In baseball, pitchers who win 300 games usually make the Hall of Fame. And today, as February 2013 begins, NOW with Alex Wagner celebrates its 300th show. Nobody is anointing NOW Biblical, legendary or Hall of Fame-worthy just yet, but today's lineup demonstrates the smart, eclectic and diverse vibe of the program. A day after his grilling on Capitol Hill, we’ll take a look at the GOP’s battle against Defense Secretary Nominee Chuck Hagel and the White House. As we get the monthly jobs report, Alex and the panel will discuss the games and charades being played by some republicans in the looming budget fight. We’ll also discuss the life and death of former New York City Mayor Ed Koch. And as the nation gears up for Super Bowl XLVII, we'll talk food, culture and tradition with culinary wizards Adam Rapoport , Eddie Huang and Andrew Carmellini. We’ll have all that and more when we celebrate number 300 at noon ET on msnbc.
