Debating Mitt

Governor Mitt Romney's strong performance at his first debate with President Obama is credited with injecting life into Romney's struggling campaign.

Governor Mitt Romney's strong performance at his first debate with President Obama is credited with injecting life into Romney's struggling campaign. But can Romney bank on a sequel?

On the show today, Alex talked with Shannon O'Brien, Romney's Democratic opponent in the 2002 Massachusetts Gubernatorial race. O’Brien said tonight's town hall format could actually benefit Romney, who despite being awkward with voters is known for being a pretty good salesman.  "He's a fabulous fabricator," said O'Brien.

O'Brien knows better than anyone how a good debate performance can change the narrative of a race. Ten years ago, O'Brien had been the favorite to win, but when a more stern and aggressive Romney emerged during the final debate, Romney turned a deficit in opinion polls into a win on election day.
