Here are the women trailblazers in politics, education and athletics who caught our eye this week. 

The Trudeau cabinet

Newly-elected Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has appointed 15 women to ministerial positions in his cabinet. Now comprising half of the cabinet, women hold esteemed positions including attorney general, trade minister and health minister.

Adele, singer/songwriter

As her new hit single 'Hello' continues to dominate the charts, Adele proudly maintained that her family life comes before her career. In an interview published in Rolling Stone, the singer/songwriter called her career her 'hobby.’

Michelle Payne, jockey

Payne made headlines this week with a victory at the Melbourne Cup. The jockey is the first woman ever to win the Melbourne Cup in its entire 155-year history.

Michelle Obama, First Lady

Mrs. Obama traveled to Qatar and Jordan this week to participate in the WISE education conference. In her speech, the First Lady called for an end to the ‘outdated laws and traditions’ that are preventing millions of girls across the globe from receiving an education.
