Democrats, Republicans, television hosts, radio personalities, lawmakers—it seems like no one is spared from Donald Trump’s insults. But as the race for the GOP presidential nomination gathers steam, it seems like the never-shy, always-controversial front-runner has taken his biting rhetoric to a new level this month.
September hasn't been a great month for Trump. Polls show his lead shrinking following the second Republican debate. He took major heat for not correcting a questioner who inaccurately called President Obama a Muslim during an event in New Hampshire. And just this week, he decided to boycott Fox News. Still, Trump is showing no signs that he’ll tone down his attacks.
Here’s a look at what the billionaire real estate mogul said in September alone—and there’s still six days to go!
Marco Rubio sweats too much: “He sweats more than any young person I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve never seen a person sweat. I’ve never seen a guy down water like he does ... they bring it in buckets for this guy,” Trump said.
Hillary Clinton is ‘shrill’: At a campaign stop in South Carolina, Trump said the Democratic front-runner has “become very shrill. You know the word shrill? She’s become shrill.”
But so is Rand Paul: After coming under fire by critics who said Trump’s remarks about Clinton were sexist, Trump said, “I would call Rand Paul shrill. I think he’s shrill. I don’t think that’s a term that applies exclusively to women at all.”
Bill O’Reilly picks too many Trump haters: Trump took particular aim at the Fox News host. “.@O’Reillyfactor, why don’t you have some knowledgeable talking heads on your show for a change instead of the same old Trump haters. Boring!" he wrote.
Rich Lowry is the ‘dumbest’: During the same Twitter rant, Trump name-checked the editor of The National Review, who was a guest on Fox News. Trump said Lowry was “one of the dumbest talking heads—he doesn’t have a clue!”
Megyn Kelly ‘is the worst’: This week, he said of Fox host Kelly on Twitter, “She is the worst—all anti-Trump! Terrible show.”
Carly Fiorina makes my head hurt: Trump – who already came under fire for making disparaging remarks about his GOP rival’s face—continued to jab Fiorina this week. On Fox News he said, “I have heard her speak numerous times and she uses many of the same lines and many of them I can quote exactly word for word and it comes out like a robot ... And, frankly, if you hear her for periods of time, you get a big, fat, beautiful headache.”
Rand Paul’s looks are easy to make fun of: At this month’s GOP debate, he said of the Kentucky senator, “I never attacked him on his looks, and believe me there’s plenty of subject matter right there.”
George Pataki doesn’t have a chance: “He wouldn’t be elected dog-catcher right now,” Trump said of the former New York governor at the debate.
Hugh Hewitt is ‘third rate’: Trump went after the conservative radio host earlier this month after he struggled to answer questions about who heads the world’s major terrorists groups. Trump called Hewitt a “third-rate radio announcer" on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
