When real estate mogul Donald Trump announced his bid for the 2016 presidential race on Tuesday, he faced fast-flying ridicule from the likes of comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Stewart even thanked Trump for providing comedy gold for his final six weeks as host of "The Daily Show."

@realDonaldTrump - Mr. Trump should know he's doing something right when the malcontents go ballistic in the press!...

However, Trump does have one staunch, high-profile supporter — everyone’s favorite Alaskan, Sarah Palin.

The former Alaska governor offered Trump words of encouragement in a Facebook post published on Wednesday. She congratulated the businessman for making “the malcontents go ballistic in the press" and backed Trump’s assertion that he will be “the greatest jobs president that God ever created.”

“His own success is testament to the job-creating achievements made possible when one applies the courageous and tenacious pro-private sector precepts we need to fire up the economy,” she said.

While Palin was putting Trump on a pedestal, she also took the opportunity to take a dig at Hillary Clinton, calling her the “chosen one” that the “pro-big government party” will anoint as the Democratic candidate in 2016. Palin went further in her attack on Clinton and called on Americans to ignore the “media's participation in the liberals' Pantsuit Politics of Personal Destruction.”

Trump and Palin have showcased their camaraderie in the past. In 2011, the two chatted over pizza at Famiglia Pizza in Times Square, committing the cardinal pizza-eating faux pas of using forks. The friendship makes sense — both glory in the public spotlight as reality television stars.

Trump tweeted at Palin thanking her for the praise and suggesting another pizza date. Perhaps this time, the pair will take the average American approach to eating pizza and forego the forks.
