Forecasters warned that a tornado was heading for Oklahoma City on Friday evening.
Terrifyingly, the massive storm system developed more than one vortex, and multiple twisters hit Oklahoma City, the suburb of Moore--which was devastated less than two weeks ago by an even more powerful storm--and the surrounding area.
The wind changed direction so suddenly that even the experts were taken by surprise, and a Weather Channel car was tossed in the wind and crumpled.
The @weatherchannel vehicle just got thrown by tornado. We stopped to help & they are OK. @jimcantore twitter.com/SeanSchoferTVN…— Sean Schofer (@SeanSchoferTVN) June 1, 2013
A mother and her baby were killed when their SUV flipped over on I-40.
Late Friday, the twisters seemed to weaken. But powerful straight winds, hail and flooding--as well as massive power outages in Oklahoma City--made the area still a danger zone overnight.
