The 10 most scathing NYC tabloid covers this election season

The NYC tabloids hold little back this election season, from headlines reading "Take the F U train Ted!" to "Trump is Hitler."

Among the harshest New York City tabloid covers this election cycle, most have been directed toward Republican candidates Donald Trump and Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

The most recent critical cover was published Thursday by the New York Daily News with a headline that read "Take the F U train Ted!" sprawled over a photo of Cruz and his wife, Heidi. The cover story discussed Cruz's recent campaign through the Bronx, where he was met with several unwelcome remarks by residents, particularly directed at his stance on immigration and his comments on how GOP rival Donald Trump represents "New York values."

Other covers have mocked Trump for referencing his manhood during a GOP debate, a former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard's support of the real estate mogul and his loss to Cruz in the Iowa caucuses. Meanwhile Democratic candidate Senator Bernie Sanders faced judgement from the tabloids for opposing efforts to sue gun manufacturers involved in the Sandy Hook shooting. The New York Post also teased Hillary Clinton for her loss to Sanders during the New Hampshire primary.

As the presidential candidates begin to make their way through New York City before the state's April 19 primary, check out the other covers tabloids have released criticizing the remaining candidates.
