Mitt Romney's supporters in the Hamptons aren't exactly helping him shed his out-of-touch image. At high-priced fundraisers over the weekend, including one at the home of David Koch, several Romney backers were quoted by reporters making comments better suited to the Roaring 20s or even the Gilded Age than the 21st century.
Sample quote: "I don't think the common person is getting it. We've got the message. But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies—all these people who have the right to vote—they don't get what's going on. I just feel that if you're lower income, one, you're not as educated, two, they don't get how it works."
