Rihanna on best part of White House visit: 'My president being black'

On Monday, the "Umbrella" singer's Instagram account took a political turn, featuring White House photos inspired by the hit Kerry Washington drama "Scandal."

Pop star Rihanna has remained largely apolitical compared to her chart-topping peers, such as Katy Perry and Beyoncé.

She has steered clear of making comments on current affairs, largely sticking to posting salacious photos of herself on social media platforms.  But on Monday, the "Umbrella" singer's Instagram account took a turn, featuring White House pics inspired by the hit Kerry Washington drama "Scandal."

Channeling Washington's iconic role as fictional Washington, D.C. fixer Olivia Pope, Rihanna struck a pose behind the White House press room podium and even stayed in character while on a pay phone outside the gates of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The visit wasn't all fun and games, though. Rihanna was at the White House to meet with administration officials about how she could play a role in President Obama's "My Brother's Keeper" initiative, a program which seeks to encourage young men of color to pursue positive life goals and a better education. On Tuesday, she will appear alongside fellow musicians Carrie Underwood, Bruce Springsteen and many more at a Veterans Day benefit concert on the National Mall.

After her impromptu photo shoot, the popular singer was approached by gossip site TMZ and asked what her favorite part of her visit was.

"My president being black," she reportedly responded.

Meanwhile, now that Rihanna has returned to Instagram after a 6-month hiatus, Press Secretary Josh Earnest had better watch his back.
