Rendell wrings hands: Bain attacks are 'hurting the president's brand'

Most Democrats think the Obama campaign's attacks on Mitt Romney's record at Bain Capital are working pretty well.

Most Democrats think the Obama campaign's attacks on Mitt Romney's record at Bain Capital are working pretty well. But Ed Rendell is worried his side isn't playing fair.

"It’s a great ad in the making," the former Pennsylvania governor said on msnbc's NOW with Alex Wagner. "But on the other hand, I think Carol also made a very good point about all this attack may be hurting the president’s brand a little bit, too."

Citing a recent Boston Globe report, Obama campaign communications aide Stephanie Cutter charged this week that Romney was either misrepresenting his position at Bain to the Securities and Exchange Commission, "which is a felony," or misrepresenting to the American people.

This isn't the first time Rendell, a Democrat, has wrung his hands over attacks on Romney's business record. Back in May, he called an earlier round of Bain ads "very disappointing," echoing comments by Newark mayor Cory Booker.
