Study shows record number of US exonerations

A new study shows that a record 87 people were exonerated in 2013, according to the National Registry of Exonerations.

A new study shows that a record 87 people were exonerated in 2013. Since 1989, the National Registry of Exonerations has tracked more than 1,300 people who were convicted for a crime and later released based on evidence of innocence. Perjury or false accusation contribute to more than half of U.S. exoneration cases, which are most frequently homicides.
