Rodney King, Trayvon Martin ... Chad Holley?
An all-white Houston jury on Thursday acquitted a former police officer who was videotaped, along with fellow officers, beating a 15-year old African-American burglary suspect. And Friday, a crowd of hundreds gathered on the courthouse steps to protest the verdict.
"No justice, no peace. Stop the racist police," and "Justice for Trayvon Martin," protesters chanted, according to Reuters.
Andrew Blomberg, 29, joined six other police officers in beating Holley afte he was apprehended fleeing from a burglary in March 2010. A video camera at a nearby business sshowed the cops kicking and stomping on Holley as he lay face down on the ground.
All were fired as a result of the incident. Blomberg and three others were charged with official oppression.
Holley, who was convicted of burglary and is on probation, has filed civil suits against the officers involved.
