President Obama’s two-week vacation to Martha’s Vineyard got off to a funny start on Saturday as the president played golf with “Seinfeld” co-creator and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" comedian Larry David.
The pair teed off at Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs, on the north side of the Massachusetts island. They were joined by Cyrus Walker, the cousin of senior aide Valarie Jarrett, and David Wolf, the former chairman of UBS Investment Bank.
According to a White House pool report, the game was worthy of a “Curb Your Enthusiasm” subplot: David, who has golfed with the president before, boldly tried to hit his ball out of a sand trap, while Obama did his signature leg kick as he missed the long putt.
Obama's vacation to Martha's Vineyard is the sixth of his presidency, although he continues to work during the time off with his family. Still, the avid golfer will likely return to the green during his stay.
As for David, he once shared that "If I wasn’t a golfer, I would still be miserable,— but not as miserable.” Perhaps after a day with the president -- who Michael Jordan infamously dissed as a "hack" golfer -- David will be feeling pretty, pretty good about his own game.
