In response to a judge's order, election officials partially covered a large mural of President Obama on the wall of a Philadelphia school serving as a polling place, NBC News reports.
Judge Milton Younge, Jr. of the Court of Common Pleas had ordered that the mural be covered "in its entirety" for the remainder of today. But the official in charge of the polling place, Tom Justice, put a few flyers over it, covering up only the face. The campaign logo remains visible, as does a quote from Obama about change.
Justice, the on-site judge of elections at the Philadelphia school, said he thought he was doing what the order directed and had no plans to cover the mural any more than he already had. Justice also said he didn't want to damage the mural by sticking things on it with tape.
The mural is a wall-sized painting of President Obama, with the words "hope" and "change," as well as what appears to be the Obama-Biden campaign logo.
Judge Younge acted in response to a lawsuit filed by state Republicans.
