The Muslim Brotherhood finally has a response to Rep. Michele Bachmann's (R-MN) accusation that they've penetrated the highest levels of the United States government: they're confused.
Earlier this month, Bachmann accused a State Department deputy chief of staff, Huma Abedin, of possibly having ties to the Egyptian political party. Numerous members of Bachmann's own party, including John McCain and her own former campaign manager, have condemned the Minnesota Republican for what they have characterized as unfounded personal attacks and anti-Muslim discrimination.
The Muslim Brotherhood's response has been more subdued. Speaking to the Global Post, one leading member of the organization said, "I haven’t heard these rumors, but they strike me as ridiculous. Surely the United States government selects its employees very carefully."
“The Muslim Brotherhood can’t even penetrate the Egyptian government,” said another.
