Kim Kardashian: 'We need answers' on Sandra Bland death

The reality star tweeted about the activist Sandra Bland, who was found dead in her jail cell days after being arrested during a traffic stop.

Kim Kardashian is not known for getting involved in social justice issues, but on Thursday she tweeted about the death of Sandra Bland, an activist who was found dead in her jail cell days after being arrested during a traffic stop in Texas.

"#WhatHappenedToSandraBland We need answers!!!! This is NOT ok! This is all shady! They need to own up to this & tell the truth!" Kardashian tweeted.

Bland's death has been ruled a suicide by hanging, according to officials in Texas. Both the traffic stop and Bland's death are under investigation. Bland's family has raised questions about the circumstances of her death. Authorities said Bland hanged herself with a plastic trash can liner.

Shortly after her first post about Bland, Kardashian tweeted "#MassiveCoverUp #WhatHappenedToSandraBland."

Some social media users have speculated that Kardashian has focused more on social justice issues since the birth of her 2-year-old daughter, North West, whose father is rapper Kanye West.

On her personal blog last year, Kardshian wrote, “To be honest, before I had North, I never really gave racism or discrimination a lot of thought. It is obviously a topic that Kanye is passionate about, but I guess it was easier for me to believe that it was someone else's battle."

"I feel a responsibility as a mother, a public figure, a human being, to do what I can to make sure that not only my child, but all children, don't have to grow up in a world where they are judged by the color of their skin,” she continued.
