Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb, who has been laying low since he announced a presidential exploratory committee last year, will speak at a Democratic fundraiser in Iowa in April.

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who is also seriously considering a presidential run, will also speak at the Polk County Democratic Party’s Annual Spring Award Dinner in Des Moines. Iowa is the first state to hold a caucus in the Democratic presidential nominating process.

“I’ve been looking forward to getting back to Iowa and eager to meet more hard working Democrats who are looking for leadership we can trust,” Webb said in a statement.

Webb has had few public events since he announced his consideration of a presidential run in November. O’Malley has been more active, with visits planned in Iowa, South Carolina, and Kansas planned for the near future.

Both are considering runs against former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, who is the prohibitive — if undeclared — front-runner for the Democratic nomination. Clinton is expected to announce a presidential run as early as April.
