Sarah Palin failed the crucial test of any potential vice presidential candidate, Dick Cheney told ABC's Jon Karl in an interview excerpt that aired on Sunday's This Week.

“The test to get on that small list has to be, ‘Is this person capable of being president of the United States?’” he said. Palin, he said, did not pass that test.

“I like Governor Palin. I’ve met her," Cheney said in the first interview since his recent heart transplant. "I know her. She's an attractive candidate. But based on her background, she’d only been governor for, what, two years. I don’t think she passed that test of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake.”
