The captured suspect in the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, pleaded not guilty Saturday to a terrorism charge.

The suspect, Ahmed Abu Khattala, appeared in federal court in Washington for about 10 minutes. He wore a blue hoodie and dark pants and listened through an interpreter. Khattala was captured in a raid in Libya earlier this month, put on the USS New York and flown Saturday from the ship to a Navy facility. He was formally charged with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, although prosecutors could add charges later. The government has not said where he will be held. One option is the federal prison in Alexandria, Virginia.
