NASA, LOCKHEED, AND 'ORION' AIM TO SEND ASTRONAUTS BACK INTO DEEP SPACE: Just days after an Orbital Sciences cargo mission to the space station blew up, NASA and Lockheed Martin unveil the "Orion," a capsule that will eventually take astronauts to asteroids and possibly back to the moon and Mars. Unlike SpaceX and Boeing, which are competing to build privately owned spaces taxis to the space station, the Orion is a traditional NASA program — they bought the capsule from Lockheed and dictated its entire development, because there are no other commercial customers. Next week, Orion will be rolled out to the launchpad, and it will liftoff on a test flight in December. So is it worth it? Is it safe? Read more
