"I don't usually email you," begins the email from performer Beyonce Knowles sent on behalf of the Obama campaign. The singer who is married to hip-hop mogul Jay-Z will host a September 18 fundraiser for the president in New York with a $40,000 ticket price, the New York Post reports.

Supporters of the president's re-election, though, are encouraged by the star to make a smaller donation for the chance to win a seat at the event along with airfare and hotel—a now ubiquitous fundraising tool used by both presidential candidates.

Previous celebrities who have hosted fundraisers for Obama include actress Sarah Jessica Parker and actor George Clooney.

Knowles' full email appears after the jump.
