Arianna Huffington is joining the board of directors of Global Citizen to help end extreme poverty by the year 2030.

Arianna Huffington is joining the board of directors of Global Citizen - the international nonprofit that advocates world leaders to end extreme poverty by the year 2030.

Arianna will join fellow board members including Martha Fray, and Chris Anderson of Ted and Mike Anders of Iconiq Capital. Global Citizen’s Chairman is Australian businessman Peter Murphy.

This year’s festival, which will be broadcast on MSNBC at 3 PM ET on September 24th, will feature world leaders and spectacular performances by Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer, Metallica, and more.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the board of Global Citizen,” said Arianna Huffington. “The Global Citizen team is passionately committed to fighting extreme poverty, reducing inequality, and using all the tools at our disposal to find solutions to the world’s biggest problems. They’ve already had a tremendous impact by engaging millions of people around the world to join the movement and take meaningful action against issues like climate change, gender equality and education. So I’m excited to be joining the team at a moment when there’s so much we can do together to build on that success and make a difference on a global scale.”
