Obama supporter Sanaa Lathan joined PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton Wednesday and  encouraged Americans to "be patient" about  economic recovery.

"It's human nature [to feel negative]. People are suffering because of the economy. I think Obama has done so much for America, health care, women... if people do their research they'll realize out how much Obama has done for the country. I think it's going to take time to get us back into good economic shape."

Of the negative ads blaming the president for the stalled economy, Lathan said, "It's unrealistic to think that we're going to be brand spanking new again in 4 years. People just have to be real about that."

Lathan, who stars in the Kelsey Grammar political drama Boss, adds that it isn't enough for Obama supporters to be enthusiastic about the president— people also need to make sure they are registered to vote.
