An air conditioning unit being hoisted by a crane fell onto a building in Midtown Manhattan late Sunday morning after the cable it was attached to snapped, authorities said.
According to police, the air conditioning unit sheared the side of the 30-story building on Madison Avenue between East 38th and East 39th Street before landing on a lower level of the building.
Seven people suffered minor injuries from falling debris, officials said
"It was like a train car fell off the side of the building," said Meredith Kelly, a tourist from Atlanta who was walking nearby when the crane went into the building. "We heard a loud noise and then we saw it dislodge from the side of the building."
