Texas Gov. Rick Perry introduced himself at the National Rifle Association convention this past weekend with a slickly produced video that shows the governor deftly wielding a semi-automatic rifle and shooting down a half dozen human-shaped targets to the electronic guitar riffs of NRA ally and rocker Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold."
The camera then swivels below, granting Perry a sweet, slow-motion ammo change of the AR-15 and a hero’s gaze off into the distance.
As if that weren’t enough, the governor followed the video bravado at the Houston convention by striding on stage with a fist pump.
“Welcome to Texas, ladies and gentlemen," he exclaimed.
The governor argued in his speech that gun laws make America more dangerous, saying restrictions make it "easier for predators to prey on the defenseless."
